IF YOU MISSED 2023/24, WE HAVE RELOCATED THE SHOW!
The relocation of the 2023/24 Freds Pass Rural Show was a huge success! we relocated to our new home on the western side of the Freds Pass Reserve – in the green and shady area around the lake, the Palm Gardens, and Lakeview Hall. We have more space, with a compact feel, more shade, and a natural amphitheater for our entertainment area.
The move is in line with the long term goal of the Freds Pass Reserve to develop this area into an event and recreational precinct, with extensive plans afoot for the improvement of the landscaping and facilities of the area to suit this usage.
Our 2023/24 show was different in more ways than one as we reinvented our site layout and made the best usage of this beautiful area. All your favourite features are still included…Paddock to Plate, Woodchopping, Main Stage entertainment, competitions and we reintroduced side show alley 2024 which proved to be very popular. We had so much positive feedback from site holders and patrons in 2023/24, we cant wait for 2025 to role on, we are in the planning stages already!
We look forward to welcoming you to our new home in 2025!
2024 will be the 45th Freds Pass Rural Show!!! Over the last 44 years it is estimated that in excess of half a million Territorian’s have had an opportunity to sample a ‘unique slice of rural life’ through a family visit to the iconic Freds Pass Rural Show. In 2020 and 2021, due to the pandemic there was a need to go to Online Shows, both of which were well supported and successful. A physical Freds Pass Rural Show was back for 2022, 2023 and 2024 and was enjoyed by all!
The show had humble beginnings, as a small Apex run rural fete for the Howard Springs Primary School in 1978, and was run under an independent committee until 2006. As the show grew in size, the Freds Pass Reserve Board took over management of the event. 2014 marked the return to an independently run event steered by an enthusiastic show committee (run as an Incorporated Association) who aims to continually build, develop and promote this fantastic event which attracts approx 10,000 people over the two day period.
The show is known for its strong rural theming with a range of equestrian events, livestock judging, animal displays, competition pavilions showcasing the community’s many artistic and creative talents, wood chopping exhibition, side show alley, main stage acts, music talent quests, Young Rural Achiever Awards and a vast array of poultry, horticulture and market garden produce. It has truly become an annual event where ‘urban meets rural’. Foodies are well catered for with great food stalls and the Paddock to Plate Marquee, where local produce is displayed, cooked and sampled.
Children are not forgotten as free children’s activities run on both days of the show, and our Outback Track bags provide fun and goodies as kids search for the participating site holders to collect the give-aways. Saturday and Sunday feature exciting entertainment acts focusing on utilising local talent wherever possible. On Saturday night everyone gathers for a spectacular fireworks display, and then party on to great live entertainment under the stars.
The Freds Pass Rural Show is a highly effective platform for community groups, businesses and industry to come on board as exhibitors and sponsors.
The Freds Pass Rural Show is of the community, by the community, for the community.
