Craft

Includes any and every craft activity imaginable – knitting, sewing, embroidery, crocheting, patchwork, quilting, applique, paper craft, fabric craft, pottery, leatherwork, woodwork and others.  For the first time there is a lego competition for adults as well as juniors.

Regulations

  • All exhibits must be wholly the work of the exhibitor.
  • If a class has size restrictions, any oversized exhibit will not be judged.
  • Definition of a quilt for exhibition at Freds Pass Rural Show: A quilt must consist of 3 layers – usually a patchwork or appliqued top or plain or embellished fabric, a layer of batting and a backing fabric; all three layers to be held together with hand or machine stitching.
  • Lego Construction to be OWN DESIGN and must be presented on a hard base. The exhibit shall be no larger than max 30 cm wide/deep/high.
  • Fabric exhibits will be covered with clear plastic for protection when displayed. Exhibitors may also choose to present their article in a plastic bag for viewing.

Patchwork, Quilting & Applique

  • All quilts must have a 10 cm hanging sleeve securely attached to the whole length of the top edge at the back. If temporary, it must be tacked. Pinned or safety pinned sleeves will not be accepted.
  • Sleeves for miniatures must be 4 cm deep, and the whole width of the quilt.
  • All quilts must be quilted by the maker on a domestic sewing machine, with the exception of Class 6012.
  • Class 6006 – Quilted item from recycled fabric – to be accompanied by an anonymous short statement and/or photograph of the source material, to be displayed with the entry.

  • Group projects – only one exhibit per Class per group/school/grade.
  • If a Class has size restrictions, any oversized exhibit will not be judged.
  • Private entries accepted in all categories.
  • Scarecrows to be of traditional design and self-standing.
  • All models and lego must be on a hard base.
